Professor Gang Chen
Professor Gang Chen is a health economist with expertise in medicine, management, and health economics. As the Vice President of the Australian Health Economics Society (2022-present), Associate Editor for Quality of Life Research (2018-2024), and tenured member of the International Academy of Health Preference Research, he champions person-centered care. Gang's pioneering research led to developing the Disability Wellbeing Index for people with disabilities (CIA) and the Quality of Care Experience instrument for aged care consumers (CIB), adopted nationally.
With a focus on cancer research, he has made important contributions to economic evaluations of colorectal and oesophageal cancer screening and surveillance. Professor Chen has designed choice experiments in patient preference studies, identifying strategies to improve cancer screening and services. His innovative methods reduce uncertainty in healthcare funding decisions using real-world cancer treatment data.

He has co-authored over 200 peer-reviewed publications in leading journals like Social Science & Medicine and British Journal of Cancer.
