Professor Oliver Hofmann
Professor Oliver Hofmann is Head of Bioinformatics at the Collaborative Centre for Genomic Cancer Medicine and a Professor in the University of Melbourne Department of Clinical Pathology. His team builds computational infrastructure and workflows with an emphasis on rapid whole genome and transcriptome analysis of cancer patients.
After finishing his PhD in Germany and a research stint at deCode Genetics in Iceland he worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the South African National Bioinformatics Institute.
Since then, he developed and led a bioinformatics core for eight years at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and worked in Scotland on the National Genome Partnership program.
He co-leads the Australian Genomics Data Management Group and the Large Scale Genomics work stream of the Global Alliance for Genomics and Health.
