Professor Jennifer Philip

Professor Jennifer Philip is Chair of Palliative Medicine at University of Melbourne, St. Vincent’s Hospital, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and Royal Melbourne Hospital, as well as Academic Lead of Palliative care at the VCCC Alliance. She is a palliative care clinician, researcher, and teacher whose areas of interest include improving the ways supportive and palliative care are delivered.

Professor Philip has extensive international credentials in academic and clinical research. She works to improve patient access to clinical research studies, build research capability, and ensure all care provided to people with advanced disease is informed by evidence and delivered by people who are well-trained, supported, compassionate, and passionate about what they do.

In her position as Chair, Professor Philip has established the Palliative Nexus research group, with the vision that all people with advanced illness deserve high quality palliative care that is equitable, timely, delivered as a standard of care, and underpinned by evidence.
