Seminar: Single-cell genomics – Recent advances and future directions

This seminar will cover some of the most exciting developments in the field of single-cell genomics over the past year. It’s been an eventful and fast-paced year in both experimental and computational methods development and Dr Martelotto will provide insights into most exciting development in the field of single-cell genomics over the past year. He will highlight the intuition behind these approaches and some of the incredible ideas that gave rise to them, with key use cases that can help motivate new users to get started.

Dr Luciano Martelotto

Dr Luciano Martelotto has more than 12 years’ experience and expertise in genomics with a particular interest in circulating nucleic acids and single-cell genomics. It was during his postdoctoral training in the laboratory of Dr Jorge Reis-Filho at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre, New York (USA) where he mastered and developed methodologies for single-cell genomics and genomic engineering.In 2018 he was recruited by Prof. Sean Grimmond to lead the Single Cell efforts at UMCCR. His Single Cell Innovation Laboratory (SCIL) is continuously developing and implementing high-throughput single-cell techniques to deconstruct diseases and reveal their genetic and epigenetic architecture. Through collaborative efforts, his ultimate goal is to provide researchers with the means to understand how cellular heterogeneity shapes complex biological systems.
